MTV Names Best Movie Of 2013 On Day Of Screen Actors Guild Nominations, And The Winner Is…

The 20th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards were unveiled this morning, but you’ll have to wait until Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014 at 8  PM ET/5 mtvPM PT to find out how which films win what. Or, you could wait just minutes after the SAG noms were announced, when public service-minded MTV cut to the chase, naming The Best Movie of 2013. According to the experts at MTV â€" No. 1 Best Movie of 2013 is:

1.Gravity.

MTV’s picks are pragmatic, based on “buzz and consideration of the Awards Season horse races” as well as box office success — oh yeah, and  “overall quality.”  Gravity was not on SAG’s best-ensemble list this morning (though Sandra Bullock was, for best female actress in a leading role).

But MTV didn’t stop there — it named the Top 10 Best Movies of 2013:

2. This Is the End

3. Wolf of Wall Street

4. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

5. Iron Man 3

6. 12 Years a Slave

7. American Hustle

8. Spring Breakers

9. World War Z

10. The World’s End

Screen Actors Guild Award pundits were of like mind on only two: 12 Years a Slave and American Hustle are on the best-ensemble nominees list.
